We are grateful to have you in our lives and it means the world to us to celebrate this moment with friends who mean so much to us. For those who are considering being at the wedding, we recognize that it is a destination wedding and most of you haven't been to our home country. We've prepared a guidebook ("π°π· Welcome to Korea") for your reference.
How long should you plan to stay?
We recommend spending 4 - 5 nights in Seoul as we hope to spend meaningful time together before and after the wedding. It will be great if we could have your time between Thursday and Sunday afternoon (the wedding's on Friday), but we understand that everyone has constraints and preferences and want to emphasize that any pre- and post-wedding festivities are completely optional and there is no expectation for your attendance in any. Many of our friends have indicated that they are looking to stay longer. We've made a guidebook (linked above) with some helpful information. Some preliminary ideas are - 4 - 5 nights β Seoul 5 - 8 nights β Seoul + Busan or Jeju 8 - 11 nights β Seoul + Busan + Jeju 12+ nights β Korea and another country
Where should you stay in Seoul?
The wedding takes place at a hotel, The Shilla Seoul, centrally located in Seoul. There are lots of options in the city and we recommend finding a place closer to places you'd like to visit. We've compiled a list in the guide (linked above) to make your search easier.
Can I bring a plus-one or children?
We'd love to host your special person. Regarding children, we kindly ask that the wedding ceremony and reception be an adults-only celebration, as is traditional for Korean weddings. This only applies to the wedding and we are happy to find accommodations for your kids for pre- and post-wedding festivities.
Dress code?
Formal. Traditionally, people wear formal and predominantly black attire to weddings in Korea. For us, we'd be happy to see you wearing something formal in structure (i.e. western style suit or tuxedo for men and dresses for women) with more leeway in your choice of color and fabric. We recommend neutral tones and classic colors that complement the setting (Google "The Shilla Seoul Yeong Bin Gwan" for reference)βplease avoid overly bright or flashy colors like bright red, neon shades, or white. Please note that we are planning an outdoor wedding. Early May in Seoul should be spring weather and very pleasant throughout the wedding. However, we will continue to monitor the weather and update you on weather closer to date.
Next steps?
Once we hear back from you by February 16, 2026, we will share more information about pre- and post-wedding festivities closer to date. Please feel free to reach out to ask questions about the wedding and your trip to Korea.
